Help with a saturated leach field

Image of a saturated leach field. This article will discuss what can help with a saturated leach field. Well, most people would be specific in answering this type of question. They would usually say that they would notice the wrinkles, the ailments, and the deteriorating memory. These are all very true. It would seem that time shows in the physical and physiological aspects of every living being. Well, it also shows in the non-living world. Many structure and formations show evidence of slow aging through the years. There are many landmarks all over the world that are in ruins or have old parts that need to be replaced or restored. If you want to bring back your formal youth and undergo radical surgical corrections, you have to prepare a hefty amount of money. The same goes with those structures that need to be brought back to their former glory.

Time is known as a thief that steals beauty and energy. Everybody faces the ravages of time but this doesn’t mean that everybody and everything should just magically turn to duct when it’s time. Care should be taken into consideration. Everyone was given a life to live and it’s one’s responsibility to care for it. It’s just like when you get your new home and you vowed to always make sure that it’s well taken care of. This encompasses everything from the technicalities to the aesthetics of the house. But before you delve into the aesthetics, you have to make sure that the technical part of the house is in good condition. One of the technical aspects of the home is the septic system.

The septic is your household’s personal wastewater treatment system. If you belong to a large or small community that doesn’t have access to the city sewers, then you rely on the septic system to process your wastewater. The septic system is composed of the septic tank and the drain field  (also called the leach field). The septic tank takes care of the pre-treatment. The anaerobic bacteria in the tank break down the solid waste materials before the clear effluent enters the leach field. The pre-treated effluent should not have any solid waste particles by the time it disperses in the leach field because this is where the final phase of treatment happens. In the leach field, the aerobic bacteria digest any minute particle of wastewater that the effluent may still carry. These oxygen-dependent bacteria regulate the biomat population, which is responsible for filtering off the pathogens from the effluent before it’s released into the environment.

But like your body and various structures all over the world, time catches up with the septic system especially when you’re not doing what you’re supposed to do as a septic owner. Over time, the leach field gets very saturated. The following are some of the reasons why you will need help with a saturated leach field:

  • Your household is using strong household cleaners that have acids and bases as active ingredients. These chemical compounds corrode the physical components of the septic tank and the leach field and most importantly, kill off the resident bacteria that accomplish the large task of treating your wastewater. You could find eco- and septic-friendly household cleaners. Using them will assure a stable septic tank and leach field.
  • Non-biodegradables and grease are dumped into your toilets and drains. The resident bacteria cannot decompose these substances, so they just stay in the septic tank until they fill it up and push the untreated effluent back into the house while the solid waste particles are pushed through the leach field. The leach field gets clogged and saturated with untreated effluent. Proper disposal of wastes should be done.

The needed help with a saturated leach field  can be provided by bacteria-based additives. They are organic and voracious. They consume the solid waste materials and leave the environment and the leach field unharmed. With bacteria your leach field will be kept from saturation even if time catches up with it.
